New Milton 72 Isle of Wight 53
For the second week in a row the Islanders were involved in a high scoring, open game, this time away to top of the table New Milton.
After 20 minutes the score indicated the style of game, with the home side 22 to 19 up.
The Island were first to score, stunning the home crowd as Henry Edwards ghosted round the home defence. New Milton reacted from the kick to equal. Then the Island hit twice, firstly as pressure saw a loose ball picked up by Alex Smith to complete from 30 metres, Lewis Murray adding the kick. Tapping a penalty from their own 5 metre line, the ball was quickly moved wide and Owen Herbert outpaced the defence from 45 metres, with another kick from Murray.
The home side then woke up and added two tries before Murray slotted a penalty. Again the home side responded with a brace and Murray added a second penalty.
With a half time score of 48-25, the sides came back out to continue in a similar vein. The Island launched Edwards for his second, New Milton coming back with two tries.
A second try for Herbert was soon followed by his hat trick as a chip from Rouse Man of the match Murray was collected by Dan Stirrup to offload for Herbert to touch down under the posts.
Although the home side added two more scores, the Island had the last say as captain Stirrup scored the final try.
