Rich Jackson catching up...

Hello boys

All is good in sunny SA - in fact weather has actually been pretty shit of
late. Living in East London by the sea, but soon moving a little further in
land to the little university town of Grahamstown.

I have just been appointed as Master In charge of Rugby and as a Year 5
teacher at St Andrews Preparatory. Score a free house and numerous other
benefits and the Mrs. has also been hooked up with a job, so all is good.

No longer playing rugga, but spending plenty of time on the golf course
which is just superb! We are still waiting for the lads from the Isle of
Wight to pull in on vacation. I know it is a daunting thought leaving the
Island but there is other life out their buggers. Would love to catch up
with you all, hope I don't have to be back in the UK until we have can have
another beer.

Take care and all the best for your upcoming season!

Kieran Leahy

Currrently taking a year out to do some traveling and I know you all miss me. This pic is from the first week of my travels, when I walked the Great Wall of China. (OK, it was 10 km of it). Currently in Tokyo, and before the end of October I plan to do a visa stop in Hong Kong (skilfully avoiding Matt Pattinson`s family) and reach Vietnam. Treated my withdrawal symptoms from rugby by going to a Japan Premier league game on Monday - plenty of Kiwis and George Gregan were playing!

Hope all is well at the club and positive about the upcoming games…see you soon,

Ian Browne

Currently deployed in the Gulf doing secret things he is not allowed to tell us about, Ian is enjoying his role as Chief Petty Officer aboard HMS Lancaster. He fills his days with jolly japes with ‘the boys’ and by rearranging his spanner drawer. Ian has played rugby for the Isle of Wight for years apart from the inconvenient breaks in which he is sent away to war (a letter to the Queen asking for this to stop recieved short shrift). Disappointed to find there was no room to play rugby on board ship, Ian was excited to hear about ‘mini-rugby’. Unfortunately he discovered this was not the game he imagined and had some serious explaining to do to the captain.
If you would like to contact Ian whilst he is away, please let his long suffering brother know at stuart.browne@iow.nhs.uk who would be happy to pass on messages of support, good wishes, abuse etc.

Mickey Farr

I am now retired and living in Almeria province in south east Spain in a town called Huercal Overa. This is midway between Murcia and Almeria City. I am remarried to Tracey, she has two daughters who live in England. We have a small farm with chickens, ducks and of course a couple of dogs.

Moment of glory - beating Phil Bartlett to the ball in 1982, please take note that the prop is ahead of the wing forward in the chase for the ball!
